The Dunning-Kruger effect

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability. It is related to the cognitive bias of illusory superiority and comes from the inability of people to recognize their lack of ability. (source: Wikipedia)

Let's get to the root of things. It takes a lot of time to learn a skill and much more to perfect it. The road from 'student' to 'guru' is a steep one and not everyone is able to complete the journey irrespective of the fields they aim to achieve it.

In the semiconductor industry, the number of components on a computer chip would double every 2 years (Moore's law). This simply means the size of transistors reduce drastically as time progresses. Similarly, the size of human brains have reduced and continues to do so to this day. Knowledge is not sought after with the same passion as it was before. It is only sought after to grow your career, earn all the money you can't even imagine which has truly sucked out the joy out of learning!

I understand Money is critical to survive, but at what cost?

It makes sense if people who are truly knowledgeable do get paid what they are worth, but what intelligent people lack is the mindless guts the latter possess. The abundance of desperation which ignites people with significantly lesser knowledge or pseudo knowledge (which is worse!) to get through the finishing line at any cost. This is where the Dunning-Kruger effect comes into effect. Once you have scaled to the peak of mount stupid, the only way you come down is by falling flat on your face before you are enlightened to hustle like a real gangster.

When you come to think about it: People with lesser knowledge, much lesser common sense go on to achieve great things. However, to be fair, these people do have an ace in their pocket or rather in their lips which is an incomparable, repetitive ass kissing ability that does come to their rescue.

Even after all this, you give yourself a chance to achieve something you ought to. You go on to check LinkedIn, just going through your feed and try your hardest not to regurgitate from what you are witnessing. People who you know to be certified dumb are at a respectable position in life. Sure, there are a plethora of certificates injected into their profiles but does that really certify knowledge? For instance, not every programmer can become a machine learning enthusiast. That comes with years of experience and hard work unless you're a born genius. All these images are forced into your fucking psyche pushing you towards imposter syndrome!

To sum it all up, Life is not fair. It has never been before and it will never be. Stop moaning, stop complaining, start hustling and get to work! Get to work like Rihanna. Nothing comes lightly, you have to work your ass off till you earn enough to rest it on the most comfortable arse chair. The road towards gaining knowledge is filled with thorns, it will leave you with a few scars after. Keep in mind, scars define who we truly are as a person. So go ahead and proudly flaunt it. The feeling you get through after crossing the finish line is priceless!

On a side note, there is an abundance of people loaded with seamlessly high-levels of knowledge, but still manage to come through as humble. In this day and age, when everyone is sprinting towards the moolah, humility is certainly a rarity.

So, hustle and stay humble, trust yourself and your time will come. Ain't no Dunning-Kruger effect is going to bring you down.
